Projects Completed in 2018 / Late 2017

It was a productive year. Successfully finished several WIPS, as well as some new ones. Please note I'm no longer posting pictures on my blog. Each project listed below is a link to my Ravelry project page.

The end of this list includes projects I forgot to post in 2017.

Holidays Gift Giving

Antler Hat - A free hat pattern on Ravelry by Tincan knits. I used Tosh Vintage for both of them, since it provides really good stitch definition for the cables. Knitted up 2 of them for holiday gift giving.

Foxy Hat - another Top This Hat, but added some Ella Rae Cozy Soft Chunky to make it a bit larger and more interesting.

Tied Knots Hat - a free pattern by Justyna Lorkowska. Multiple cables. Used Zen Garden Serenity DK, and added a pom pom.

Selkie Hat - from Woolly Wormhead. Yarn Malabrigo Rios and MollyGirl Rock Star.

Tide Point Hat - This pattern was a special kit from Neighborhood Fiber Co, Accessory Club. Yarn was a limited edition, Neighborhood Fiber Cable Car DK.

Neon Hufa Hat - pattern is by Christine Chochoy. Found it on Lopi's website. Made with Ístex Alafosslopi, brought directly from Iceland as gift from my niece. Appropriately, made her a hat, and also made myself one.

Foxy Mittens - called Pair of Fox's Mittens by Aunt Janet's Designs. Found this on Ravelry to go with the Foxy Hat. Used my stash yarn (Cascade 220 Superwash).

Clary Mitts -  Fingerless mitts by Sara Gresbach on Ravelry. Used Oink Worsted. This went with the Tied Knots Hat.

Mayura Cowl and Mitts - a Neighborhood Fiber Co, kit that I picked up at their store, while traveling through Baltimore. Pattern is by Barbara Gregory, and can be found on Ravelry. Yarn is Neighborhood Fibers Studio DK.

Oriental Lily Dress - a free pattern on Ravelry by Georgie Nicolson. Used Zen Garden Serenity DK, and Wonderland Yarns Mad Hatter. A request from my great-niece over a year ago, and finally got around to it, beginning in June of last year.

Degraw Shawl - from Malbrigo Book 13. Used some of my Susan Nadelson hand spun yarn. Earth tones. Perfect for my mother-in-law.

Other Hats

2-Color Hats - found on Ravelry by Mary Kate Long. Used Kenzie yarn by Hikoo. The perfect color for my winter parker.

Banded Hat - by Stephanie Shiman. This was a kit I picked up at TNNA at the Frabjous Fiber booth. Yarn is Wonderland March Hare.

Revolution Watch Cap - pattern is in the Rib Magazine No. 3, and is by Cecelia Campochiaro. Uses the Sequential Knitting technique that Cecelia has popularized.

Twinings Hat - Designed by Jennifer Dassau from Knit.Wear Fall/Winter 2018. Used Rowan Felted Tweed.

Vests & Sweaters

Kiss of North Vest - Designed by Melissa Schaschwary, pattern is free on Ravelry. Yarn is a discontinued one from my stash (Alpaca with a Twist Highlander). Began this project in conjunction with a student who was making her first garment. Of course, she finished it way before me!

Cassis Cardigan - designed by Thea Coleman, and found on Ravelry. A great top down easy cardigan with some lace detail. Used MollyGirl Rock Star Worsted in the Jersey Girl colorway.

So Faded pullover - designed by Andrea Mowry, and found on Ravelry. Was intending to use a my stash fingering weight, but ended up using only 2 of the 5 colors needed for the fade.

Ponchos, Shawls, Scarves & Cowls

Noro Blanket Poncho - pattern in Noro Summer 2016 magazine.Yarn is Taiyo Worsted. This had been on my needles for a while. Made a mistake n the 2nd half of the project, and had to rip it back. Put it aside for a while, and then picked it up this past summer to finish. The yarn was originally slated for a blanket, but decided on the poncho when the magazine was published.

Seasons Poncho - pattern and yarn by Dan Doh (Yumiko Alexander). Purchased at TNNA directly from her. Love this!!

Two Harbors Poncho - designed by Sarah Smuland. Yarn is Blue Sky Fibers Extra. Saw the sample at TNNA, tried it on and decided to make it. Easy knit.

Aranami Shawl - designed by Olga Buraya-Kefelian. The yarn was re-purposed from other projects I had planned, but changed my mind. Koigu KPM, Baah La Jolla, Marianated Scrumptious HT.

Local Yarn Shawl - designed by Casapinka, and was free on Local Yarn Store Day (coincided with the NJ Wool Walk 2018). Used Hypnotic fingering yarn, and Groovy Hues Sock, both purchased at The Yarn Attic on the Wool Walk.

Pebble Beach Shawlette - designed by Helen Stewart. Yarn is Cascade Heritage Wave. The pattern nicely shows off the gradient in the yarn. I saw this at the Knitting Garage in Rhinebeck NY, and purchased the yarn there.

Simee Dimeh Shawl - pattern is by Romi Hill. Yarn is from Miss Babs. Purchased this as a kit directly from Miss Babs. Colorway is Favorite Boots Sierra.

Erika Cardigan
Inara Wrap
Soulinen Cowl

Zombie Killer Slouch

2 X 2 Cowl
Infinate Order Mobius

Traveling Companion Shawl
Manistique Scarf
Reverse Psychology

Washington Square Cowl

Your Princess is in Another Castle

Erika Cardigan - purchased the yarn at the Blue Purl during the NJ Wool Walk in 2014. Found the pattern on Ravelry.

Inara Wrap - Pattern is by Ambah O'Brien (from Ravelry), and yarn is by Marianated Yarns. Two gradient kits are required for this pattern. I did use all 6 colors of each kit.

Soulinen Cowl - Pattern is by Ysolda Teague, and yarn is Ancient Arts Fiber Big Squeeze. The pattern is from one of Ysolda's ebooks called Knitworthy 2 (fabulous designs available on Ravelry). The yarn was purchased online from Mont Tricot in Sutton Quebec. I LOVE this yarn, and is not widely available in the U.S.

Zombie Killer Slouch - The hat is by Luciana Young, from the 2017 Pattern a Day Desk Calendar, . The yarn is Malabrigo Mecha. I received a skein for the holidays from my mother-in-law, and was lucky enough to pick up another one from The Yarn Attic (not the same dye lot, but very close).

2 X 2 Cowl -  The pattern is from Tincanknits, and found it on Ravelry. Purchased the yarn online from Mont Tricot in Quebec. It's Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts Big Squeeze, which is hard to find in the States (it's a Canadian made yarn). The colorway is Grand Canyon.

Infinate Order Mobius  - Pattern is from Feederbrook Farm, as is the yarn. It's Entrophy Worsted, and was purchased at Vogue Knitting Live NY in 2016. The yarn was sold in kit-like form, with 2 skeins: 1 skein was solid in Walnut, and the other was a tweed in Flashpoint.

Traveling Companion Shawl - I saw this yarn at TNNA in 2016, and purchased a bundle of it to try it out. The yarn is from Round Mountain Fibers, whcih specializes in dying yarn according to the colors of birds. This was a Kestral bundle. It came with a variegated yarn, and several matching solids. The pattern was found on Ravelry, and it's by Karen Strauss. It was the pattern Round Mountain used for a sample at TNNA.

Manistique Scarf - This was a kit I purchased at TNNA in 2016 from RYN yarns (now Beet Street yarns). The yarn is from Loom - Risotto (a nubby thick and thin) and Speck. Both are 100% silk. They were both difficult to work with, but I finally got the scarf done!

Reverse Psychology - The yarn is from Wolle's Yarn Creations, and I originally saw it on Etsy. It's a 100% cotton color changing yarn, made up of 4 strands that gradually transition from 1 color to the next. A friend purchased it for me at Maryland Sheep & Wool in 2017, and then I found the pattern on Ravelry. The pattern is by Mindy Ross.

Washington Square Mosaic Cowl - This cowl pattern is from the Malabrigo Book Eleven:Aniversario celebrating their 10th anniversary in business. Yarn is Mecha Mostazo (had left overs from the Zombie Slouch hat, then I had to buy another skein of course), and Volcan. Purchased from The Yarn Attic.

Your Princess is in another Castle (cowl)  - I bought some Anzula Burly at TNNA 2017, which is a new bulky yarn from them. Barbara Benson also had a booth at TNNA, highlighting her designs from her new Mosaic & Lace book (which I had purchased earlier in the year). This pattern is in the book, and uses a bulky yarn; so, voila! Decided to make this up. A fun knit!

October 2016 - December 2016 Completed Projects

Zoe 3-in-1 dress - I made this in 2014 for my great-niece, and it still fits! Made from Dancing Leaf Farms Bee Bop, and the pattern is by Suzanne Williams. Saw it at Rhinebeck NYS Sheep & Wool, and just had to make it.

Effortless Cardigan - Indiecita Alpaca (Michell yarns) yarn purchased in Lima Peru, while on vacation. Used Malabrigo Lace to add more heft to the fabric. Pattern is by Hannah Fettig (KnitBot), and is top down construction.

Swedish Gradient Hat - A repeat of the hat I made in August, using the remainder of the Schoppel Gradient yarn and a different contrasting color (Malabrigo Merino in a dark blue). Yarn was purchased from The Yarn Attic in Hillsborough NJ.

Plymouth Cable Brioche Cowl - Using Gina yarn (originally intended for another cowl), and Shibui Merino Alpaca (discontinued). The pattern is free on Ravelry. Yarn is from my stash.

Mermaid Tail Blankets - Ella Rae Cozy Soft solids & prints. The blue one was made with a solid Cascade 220 Superwash, held together with an Ella Rae Cozy Soft print. The pink one was made with two strands of the Ella Rae (solid and print) held together. The tails were 2 Ella Rae solids held together. Pattern is Mermaid Tale Lap blanket by Angie Hartley, available on Ravelry. Ella Rae yarn is from The Yarn Attic in Hillsborough NJ. The Cascade 220 Superwash was from my stash. Gifts for two of my great-nieces.

Hestor Brioche Cowl (reprise) - Another version of the Hestor Cowl (Lori Versaci, available on Ravelry) made while teaching a Brioche workshop. Yarn is from Molly Girl (Rockstar). This was a holiday gift for my mother-in-law. Have another set of Molly Girl yarn to make one for me! All yarn purchased from The Yarn Attic in Hillsborough NJ.

Lila Cowl - This was a kit I purchased during the NJ Wool Walk in 2016 from The Blue Purl in Madison, NJ.  This is a Lux Adorna Knits Fun Size Bundle in sport weight, and the bundle included the pattern. However, I changed the pattern a bit, since I found the one included in the kit, as well as the one available on Ravelry, to have some inconsistencies. If you want to see the pattern changes I used, go to my Ravelry project page, and look for the Lila Cowl (my id is feltingsam).

Yarnimal Scarves - From Plymouth Design Studios. The kits are complete with pattern, and animal parts! Purchased from the Yarn Attic in Hillsborough NJ. Made them for my great-niece and great-nephew for the holidays.

Poinsettia - This was  the Dream Club kit from 2013 -  Poinsietta fingerless mitts and headband. However, I was able to get an additional skein of the yarn and turn the headband into a hat. Added the racoon pom -pom. All supplies purchased from The Yarn Attic in Hillsborough NJ. Was a holiday gift for my sister-in-law.

Barley hat - Hat pattern is by TinCan Knits, available on Ravelry (free download). Yarn is Berroco Vintage, from my stash (leftover from another project). Was a holiday gift for a great-nephew.

Seed Banded Slouch hat - pattern is a free one from Lion Brand. Yarn is Tosh Vintage in Whiskey Barrel. The hat was a sample at The Yarn Attic, where I purchased the yarn. Was a holiday gift for a great-nephew.

Windschief hat II - Second time I made this hat. The first was for my husband; this one was for my brother. Pattern is by Stephen West. Yarn is Madeline Tosh Vintage in El Greco, purchase at The Yarn Attic in Hillsborough NJ.

Wheat Scarf - Pattern is from TinCan Knits (on Ravelry). Yarn is from Good Karma Farm (60/40 Wool/Alpaca Worsted Weight), purchased at NYS Sheep and Wool a few years ago. The scarf was a holiday gift for my father-in-law.

Two x Two cowl - Pattern is from Tincan Knits (from Ravelry), using Ancient Arts Fiber's Big Squeeze (purchased online from Mont Tricot in Sutton Quebec). Buttons were from my stash (ceramic "cow" buttons).

Building Blocks Shawl - KAL from Stephen West on Ravelry. Yarns used include Anzula Ava, Frabjous Fibers Mad Hatter Mini Skein pack, Madeline Tosh Sport in Modern Fair Isle (left over from another Stephen West project - Askew Me shawl). The Anzula and Mad Hatter yarns were purchased from The Yarn Attic in Hillsborough NJ.

June 2016 - September 2016 Completed Projects

Tri-Color Cowl - pattern is 3 Color Cashmere Cowl by JOJI Locatelli, and yarn is Shibui Staccato purchased from the Yarn Attic.

Multnomah scarf - Done Roving Stepping Out and pattern from Ravelry. Purchased yarn at The Yarn Diva during the 2014 NJ Wool Walk.

Dallas Top - Classic Elite Aruba. Pattern from Metro Knits (Classic Elite pattern book). Both Both from The Yarn Attic.

Peloton Wrap - Yarn is I Knit or Dye (This is the Sea) from I Knit London (a gift). Pattern from Ravelry by Natalie Servant. Knitted this while watching the 2016 Tour de France.

Hestors Cowl - Madeline Tosh Vintage & pattern from Lori Versaci. Knitted this as a sample for The Yarn Attic, for a Brioche class.

Crofthoose Hat - Pattern is from 2016 Shetland Wool Festival. Designed by Ella Gordon. It's a free pattern on Ravelry via the Shetland Wool Festival website. The pattern calls for Jamieson Spindrift, but I used Classic Elite Vail and Villa. The hat came out rather small, because the yarn is thinner than Jamieson's; so I'm going to knit it up again using Jamieson Spindrift.

Cool Hemp Ponchette - Pattern is on Ravelry by Lana Hames. Yarn is Rowan Panama. Purchased the yarn from Wool & Grace in Summit NJ at the 2014 NJ Wool Walk. Originally intended to make another poncho, but abandoned it in favor of this one. Very pleased with the result!

Noro Entrelac Bag - Noro Wheel and Noro Summer 2016 magazine (sample for the Yarn Attic)

Swedish Gradient Hat - The pattern is from Meg Swansen (Schoolhouse Press). It calls for Schoolhouse Swedish Gradient yarn and their Icelandic wool, but I used Schoppel Wool's Gradient and some Morehouse Merino (in off white) that I had in my stash. Two hats can be made from Schoppel's Gradient. The second one uses Malabrigo Merino in dark blue as the contrast.

Cable Brioche Cowl - Pattern is a free one from Plymouth. I saw it advertised in one of the knitting magazines, and looked it up on Ravelry. The yarn is Plymouth Gina , and Zen Garden Serenity Worsted (green solid). the pictures show each side, since brioche creates a reversible fabric.

Another Crofthoose Hat - The free pattern from Shetland Wool Week. This time, made out of Jamieson's Spindrift.

March - May 2016 Completed Projects

I'm working on so many projects at one time, I haven't actually completed many; just these two.

Marty's Reliable Bicycle Hat

Marty's Reliable Hat - Yarn is Spud & Chloe Sweater yarn, purchased at Trillium Yarns in Morristown NJ. The pattern is from Ravelry (Karen Clark). Purchased both during the 2016 NJ Wool Walk. Have enough yarn to make a second one in the reverse color scheme.

Florid Shawl
Florid shawl - Yarn is Neighborhood Fiber Co. Gradient Rustic Fingering (Shades of Aqua), and pattern is from Ravelry (Fatimah Hinds). Purchased the yarn at The NYS Sheep and Wool Festival in October 2015 (AKA Rhinebeck), when I saw the sample at the Neighborhood Fiber Co booth. A very addicting pattern. Dropped everything else to complete this one! (The picture was taken at the Neighborhood Fiber Co store in Baltimore MD! Stopped by on our way home from the DC area.)
